Riding Cable Cars Over the Seas and the Lakes

Korea is a country surrounded by the seas and filled with mountains. One exciting way to enjoy the scenic beauty of these natural features is to ride cable cars over them. Here are some of the most thrilling cable car rides against the backdrop of spectacular landscapes in Korea.

An Emerging Tourist Attraction in Busan: Songdo Cable Car

Songdo Cable Car transports passengers right across the sea. Extending for 1.62 kilometers and rising 86 meters above sea level at the highest point, these cable cars come in two types, i.e., Air Cruise and Crystal Cruise. The latter is definitely more popular as its transparent glass floor offers one-of-a-kind of the sea as passengers fly over them. Passengers have described riding these cable cars that are glasses on all sides as an exhilarating experience. The surrounding landscape, including Busan Tower and Namhangdaegyo Bridge, is nothing less than spectacular. Sky Harbor Observatory at Songdo Sky Park (the upper station) is a great lookout point from which you can enjoy views of the flying cable cars coming and going against the backdrop of the sea.

For a Romantic Night Out: Yeosu Cable Car

Yeosu Cable Car is a great way to enjoy a ride over the sea, especially at night when the city underneath is in a particularly romantic mood. Flying across the sea from Jasan Park to Dolsan Park for 1.5 kilometers during the day time also offers a scenic view of the azure blue sea and a view of the city that began as a charming coastal village. When the lights of the city turn on one by one and the fishing vessels on the sea turn their bright lights on, riding a cable car over the sea might make you feel as if you were flying across the outer space. You can embark from either Jasan Park or Dolsan Park. While round trips are available, we recommend that you board the cable car at one point to get to the other side of Yeosu, and continue your exploration on foot.

Riding across a Lake and Over a Mountain Ridge: Jecheon Cheongpung Cable Car

Cable car rides in Jecheon can be a great way to travel the town’s high mountains and large lake while enjoying the scenic beauty of the natural landscape. It takes the cable car nine minutes to travel from the lower station to the upper station, at which you can enjoy a picturesque view of the sea-like vast lake underneath and a lush green mountain ridge surrounding it. Cheongpung Cable Car is especially popular because the cars generate little noise or vibration. You can also ride a monorail to ascend to Bibongsan Observatory and a cable car to descend. The monorail may be slow, but it travels along a steep slope that is over 50 degrees in angle at its steepest point, offering much thrill for passengers. A shuttle takes passengers between the cable car station and the monorail station every hour. You cannot ascend to the top of the mountain by cable car and descend by monorail.
