Seoul Street Art Festival 2017

The streets of Seoul blossom with culture and the arts in the autumn season. The Seoul Street Art Festival (SSAF) 2017 will take place for four days, from October 5 to 8, at major venues across Seoul, including the Seoul Plaza, the Cheonggye Plaza, the Gwanghwamun Plaza, Sejong-daero, Cheonggyecheon-ro, Deoksugung Doldam-gil, Seoul Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as some neighborhoods. Street performances and artworks that are free of charge will be seen throughout the city during the festival.
Previous programs have included world-class shows and performances, including street art by renowned artists, open theater performances, “art-tainment” shows including circuses, and hybrid artworks that combine the arts and technologies. Below are some of Seoul’s recommended performances that will be featured at this year’s festival. They will make your Korean Thanksgiving holidays unforgettable.

Muare

“Muare” is the title of the ambitious performance featuring a live concert by Duchamp Pilot and the actors of Voala, a theater troupe. The show will feature the use of intricate equipment with which actors will fly across the sky, while the musicians play live music. This will be a magnificent show that will provide a spectacle both on land and in the air.

Keyframes

Sculptural works in playful and humorous poses will be featured in the heart of Seoul. “Keyframes” is an installation art that recreates a story with sparkling lights. The lit sculptures inspired by the kinetic movements of the human body will create a lively and energetic atmosphere.

Lance Moi en l’Air

In this performance, two actors lift, throw, and lean against each other, inviting the audience to contemplate on an interesting question: Can we be thrown off into the air instead of onto the ground? The two actors express contradicting feelings and sympathy between two human beings with their street dance.

Smash

Discover a new world of juggling, featuring 100 red apples, seven men, and two women, who, together, put on a show that traverses the fine line between the traditional juggling art and the modern circus.
