National Forest Healing Center
국립산림 치유원

The good effects of forests on human health are already widely known. The benefits of phytoncide and anions, which represent the healing power of forests, have also been validated enough, and related research is still ongoing. There is no doubt that the forest is a rich repository of energy which treats our bodies distressed by urban life. The National Forest Healing Center operates various programs where you can properly enjoy such a good forest.

Night in a secret cottage in the forest

The National Forest Healing Center is composed of Juchi District, including Juchi village, a healing garden, aqua therapy center, and health promotion center for visitors who participate in one-day or overnight short-term forest therapy programs and Munpil District, including Munpil Village, for long-term visitors, and the districts are surrounded by nine forest trails called “forest trails of healing.”

The accommodation facilities in Juchi Village and Munpil village, which suggest villas in a quiet mountain village, are made with natural materials including wood and red clay. The accommodation complex in Juchi Village for short-term visitors are loft-style independent villas that are popular for families. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. Since it is located on a hill, visitors can feel the thrill of travel upon entering as if they are visiting a secret cottage in the forest. With no TV, people can enjoy conversations, and without the internet, it is good to read a book which has been put off for a while. At midnight, all lights in the National Forest Healing Center are turned off, and this is when the story of night really begins. There are stars everywhere. You can sit down on the terrace and spend time for serene meditation at night under the stars. There is no need to worry about what to have for breakfast. The stay-in program includes three meals, and the meals will be served with low-salt side dishes and organic vegetables. The joy to savor seasonal foods which make you feel comfortable will be energy to start your day.

Forest Therapy Program with the harmony of forest, water, and aromas

Forest therapy programs are divided into a one-day program, stay-in program, and long stay program, and the one-night, two-day program is recommended for the first visit. Upon entering the health promotion center, visitors will undergo a health check-up with seven kinds of measuring instruments for body information, including blood pressure and body composition, and for physical strength including grasping power and back muscle strength. In particular, it has a lot of popularity as visitors can check their level and cause of stress with the health checkup. After this, six of the latest health treatment devices, including a sound wave lower body bathing tub and aqua line, which improves blood circulation with water pressure, will relax both soul and body.

Forest therapy programs have four themes. Visitors can plan their schedule with the theme they want. The most representative program is “forest therapy,” trekking with a therapy guide along the deck roads created in the center. Based on the exercise method, there is emotional charging in the forest, revitalizing trekking, romantic trekking, and balance walking. Revitalizing trekking is a walking program with wearable devices to check the heartbeat depending on the exercise intensity, while balance walking is a trekking exercise with Nordic sticks that uses the lower and upper body in balance. It is good for a healthy diet too. Emotional charging in a forest program used to lower the stress by walking, playing, and exercise in the forest and to communicate with nature.

Forest therapy programs can also use water, that is, aquatic therapy. Nine effective aquatic therapy devices in total, including a bench jet, bubble jet, and neck shower that use water flow and pressure in order to give vitality, are established. Also, an open-air bath and foot bath are ready to use. Swimming suits and clothing are provided at the entrance.
